Write to the Government

The high £100 stake on Fixed Odds Betting Terminals (FOBTs) found in bookmakers, is of great concern to many MPs, local authorities, charities and communities. Apart from the mental and psychological harm FOBTs can cause to users, there are also wider societal problems, such as family breakdown, and unemployment.

The Government’s long-awaited Review of Stakes and Prizes and Fixed Odds Betting Terminals has now been published setting out a number of options to reduce the maximum stake.

With this Review, there is a real opportunity to cut the maximum stake on FOBTs to £2, bringing it in line with other gambling machines and reducing the extent of the harm they cause to many in our society. By contacting the Secretary of State below, you can help influence the final decision on the stake.

A copy of your letter will also be sent to your MP to encourage them to support the APPG’s push for a £2 stake
